Systematic Invest Plan (SIP)

A Systematic Invest Plan is a type of investment instrument made available by mutual funds through which investors can invest periodical small amounts in the stock market. This facility allows investors to invest a fixed amount of money at regular intervals.

One should start investing early in life as one of the most significant reasons for that is the benefit of compounding. As Albert Einstein rightly quotes, “Compound Interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it earns it. He who doesn’t pay it.”

  • Why Should One Start Investing Early in Life?

Letʹs understand this with the help of an example. Anish started investing Rs. 10,000/- every year at the age of 30. On the other hand, Paresh started investing the same amount each year at the age of 35. So when they both attained the age of 60 respectively, Anish had a total corpus of Rs. 12.23 lakhs while the corpus of Paresh was only Rs. 7.89 lakhs. The difference in their corpora was around Rs. 4.34 lakhs. Here, in this example, a rate of return of 8% compounded has been assumed. Hence, investing early in life can give you an edge and thus result in building a much better corpus.

  • Meaning of SIP:

A systematic Investment Plan is a simple and effective way of creating wealth. You don’t need to invest a large amount but just a small amount at regular intervals. SIP forms a healthy habit of savings. You can start your SIP from as low as Rs. 500 and also, your interval cycle can be weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or even on an annual basis. By opting for SIP, your investments stand to benefit in the long-term due to the compounding effect.
